Join local historian, author, and storyteller Jenna Goodwin for an inspiring evening delving into the lives of Staffordshire’s trailblazing women – those who defied convention, shaped communities, and left their mark on history. From potbanks to politics, these women challenged the expectations of their time and proved that change often begins with the bold.
Expect stories of strength, rebellion, compassion, and creativity, all told with Jenna’s signature blend of humour, research, and passion for local heritage.
Enjoy a warm welcome with sausage rolls, pork pies on arrival, and vegan and veggie options. The bar will be open throughout the evening for refreshments.
About the Venue
Hosted in the beautiful Foxlowe Arts Centre, a Grade II-listed Georgian house standing proudly at the head of Leek’s Market Place, the venue itself is steeped in history. Once home to influential families and later transformed into a Red Cross hospital and Trades & Labour Club, Foxlowe has been a centre for community life in many forms.
Since 2011, it has flourished as a volunteer-led hub for the arts, with exhibitions, theatre, film, live music, and an inviting café all under one historic roof. Tonight’s talk takes place in the Bromfield Room, one of the many welcoming spaces at this vibrant cultural landmark.
Let’s celebrate the stories that history books too often leave behind – and the Staffordshire women who refused to stay silent.
